(Monday, 15 June 2009) A child accidentally shot by his older brother didn't survive his injuries; it's "Hammertime" on A&E; you could be the next face of KFC--or the next star of American Idol. Details on today's KISS News Now!

  • No charges have been filed in the death of a 10-year-old Fayetteville boy, who died in ICU Sunday after being accidentally shot by his brother the day before outside their home on Edmondson Way. Police say the 12-year-old got their dad's loaded 9mm out of the kitchen and was fooling around with it--when he shot his little brother in the head. The Johnson family issued a statement through their lawyer saying they'll donate the younger boy's organs.

  • President Barack Obama today takes his case for health care overhaul to a quarter-million of the nation's doctors at the American Medical Association meeting in Chicago. The president's pushing for wider insurance coverage and targeted federal spending cuts.

  • College Park Police are investigating a Sunday night shooting that wounded four people riding in a Toyota Corolla in the parking lot of the Hampton Place Townhomes on South Hampton Road. Police say he black male gunman fled with a woman in a red Pontiac G6 after opening fire with a high-powered rifle. Three of the victims are being treated at Grady; the fourth got out of the car and ran away. Apparently an argument triggered the shooting.

  • The son of the accused Holocaust Museum gunman says he wishes his dad had died. 88-year-old white supremacist James von Brunn killed security guard Stephen Johns last week. Von Brunn's son Erik released a statement saying that his father's racist views destroyed their family and ruined other lives, too.

  • Seven Dunwoody Boy Scouts test positive for swine flu; a dozen others are showing H1N1 symptoms after a camping trip to the North Carolina mountains.

  • It's Hammertime! MC Hammer's new reality show debuted last night on A&E. "Hammertime" opens Hammer's home to viewers, showcasing his family life with his wife and kids, his spirituality and entrepreneurial side. The 10-episode series was filmed at the Burrell home in Tracy, California. A&E says, "Hammer and his wife Stephanie have been married for 24 years and together they are raising six children. For the Hammers, every day is a challenge. While spending the last seventeen years readjusting to his middle class lifestyle, Hammer never lost his thirst and desire to regain superstar status, and is now poised to bring his family along with him for the ride."

  • What's the best part of a wedding? For men, the food. For women, the ceremony and gown. A new AP/GFK poll also finds the biggest wedding thumbs-down for everyone is standing in the receiving line to congratulate the couple when you'd rather be in line at the bar. Also, 90% of those surveyed said they'd bring gifts--though only 28% think the bride and groom should expect one!

  • Walton High School in Cobb County is one of the top 100 high schools in the country, according to the newest rankings by Newsweek, coming in at #90. Fifty-one Georgia schools are on the list--most in metro Atlanta; 12 from Cobb and 13 from Gwinnett.

  • Forget Colonel Sanders. YOU could be the new face of KFC's new Grilled Chicken. They're launching a video contest--and the winner will be featured in the new ads, plus get free grilled chicken for life. Videos, 90 seconds or less, must be submitted on MySpace by July 7, and fans vote in August.

  • Speaking of tryouts, the next American Idol auditions are Tuesday and Wednesday at the Georgia Dome. About 7,000 hopefuls braved the chill and the rain Sunday at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts for the kickoff auditions. Those who make the first cut will be called back later. Besides having talent, courage and perhaps a thick skin, auditioners must also be between the ages of 16 and 28 and eligible to work in the United States.

  • The KISS 104.1 weather forecast; Monday and Tuesday, a mix of clouds and sun, isolated and strong afternoon thunderstorms, highs near 88, lows about 70.
