The Secret Service says counterfeit cash is circulating in metro Atlanta; a mother is accused of selling her five-year-old daughter into prostitution; Kia's new Georgia plant officially opens today. Plus, look at a blast from the past: a surprise TV cameo involving Michael Jackson. It's all on today's KISS News Now!
- The Secret Service warns metro Atlantans to be on the lookout for counterfeit money. This, after two separate withdrawals from a DeKalb County ATM gave the account holders phony $20 bills, which were spotted when the users tried to use them at a store and a gas station. Neither person was arrested, and the funny money was confiscated. The Secret Service says counterfeiters like to take advantage of long lines and distracted clerks to try to sneak bogus bills into circulation at this time of year.
- Kia officially begins production today at its new Georgia plant in West Point. Workers will build Sorrento crossover SUVs, and the first Georgia-built vehicles are expected in showrooms in January. Kia's plant is bringing thousands of jobs and is expected to make a $6.5 billion impact here by 2012.
- The Mustang the repo men were bringing in has been found, but the owner who fell behind on his payments is still at large. 29-year-old Justin Moore is accused of opening fire from his south Fulton County house as two repo guys towed his car, killing 27-year-old Brandon Thomas of Kennesaw. 36-year-old Willie Thackston is still in ICU at Grady; his wife Ally says speculation that Moore thought the men were stealing is bunk, because they showed Moore the paperwork first. Moore's car was found the next day near Hartsfield-Jackson.
- The mother of a missing North Carolina girl is due in court today to answer to felony charges. 25-year-old Antoinette Davis (below, right) is charged with selling her five-year-old daughter Shaniya (below, left) into prostitution, and falsely blaming her boyfriend. Police have arrested a man spotted taking the girl into a local motel, but she is still missing. Searchers are combing through woods and swamps to find her.
- DeKalb County Police begin carrying stun guns again, ordering 1,000 new Tasers for the force. Training on the stun guns starts today. DeKalb stopped using them in 2005, amid warnings that repeated blasts could lead to death. Taser last month warned police not to aim the stun guns at suspects' chests, because it could stop their hearts.
- Georgia's Highway Patrol is cracking down on those who don't buckle up, hoping to save the lives of motorists as the peak Thanksgiving travel season approaches. The statewide "Click It Or Ticket" program begins today; it'll target interstates during the day, and state and county roads at night.
- Gwinnett County's deputies today launch a new crackdown on illegal immigrants. The computer system 287G allows deputies to use the same database run by Immigration and Customs Enforcement to determine whether anyone taken into custody is here in the States illegally. Cobb, Hall and Whitfield counties already use it; it's nailed 70,000 illegals--most of them in jail--over the past three years.
- A Florida family mourns the loss of their father--literally. The van the family was using to carry their father's ashes to the funeral was broken into--and someone stole the urn. The family went on with the service, without the retired veteran's remains.
- It was this day in 1989 that Michael Jackson made a surprise visit to Arsenio Hall's late-night talk show, popping on set to present Eddie Murphy with an MTV viewers' award. King of Comedy Murphy then reciprocated, giving King of Pop Jackson an award from the same viewers' poll. Here's a clip:

What others are saying
- Mother of Missing South Carolina GirlI am a 37 year old mother of 2, I had my first child @ age 17 and my second @ age 37, I am now a proud grandmother of a 1 year old whom I love as if she was mine. It breaks my heart that parents are abusing their children and selling them. The mother of the child should go to jail for the rest of her life and have her tubes burned so she can never have any other children. This should be for all parents who mistreat and abuse there children. The men who are wimps, punks, less of a man to find someone their age to be with instead of children should all be castrated. In Buffalo NY there are so many pedifiles its rediculous they get no jail time or little how do we protect our youth because the government does not. Drug dealers get their lives stripped away from them while these punks get to live next door to children or schools. We just had an incident in which the Urban League of Buffalo had a registered sex offender mentoring children and molested an innocent young boy what does this say about these organizations and their failure to protect, and check their employees backgrounds???? I think the Buffalo Urban League is a disgrace to the community and the people they were built to serve.
