The lawyer for King--who is now in sales--says his client hopes to resume the relationship, but that the ball is now in the girl's court.

He says the nonviolence of Ghandi and Martin Luther King must be the world's north star, but it's not always practical...and says he is obliged to protect and defend America. Mr. Obama says he can't argue with those who says others are more deserving. He plans to give his $1 million prize to charity.

  • A dental student from Howard University is among five young American Muslims now detained in Pakistan. Authorities say the men, ages 19 to 25, have told them that they traveled there to take part in a holy war and wanted to join militants on the Afghan border. The Babbs are free on bond. Reverend Babb pastors the Christ Assembly Atlanta Ministry in Decatur.

  • A 12-year-old Florida boy could spend the next nine years in juvenile custody if convicted in the beating death of his baby cousin. Brittany Young testified she stopped to run an errand at Target on the 4th of July; when she got back to the car, the five-week-old girl was unconscious--and that when she asked the boy what had happened he replied, "Nothing." The prosecutor says the baby died of multiple skull fractures caused by a severe blow to the head.
