  • She lost her son suddenly; now, her house appears to be next. The mother of Jamaal Addison--who was the first Georgian killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom in March 2003--is being evicted on the day DeKalb County set aside to honor her son. Patricia Roberts' Lithonia condo is in foreclosure and she's been ordered to get out by Monday, August 2--Jamaal Addison Day. She shares the place with her ailing mother and Addison's young son, "Little" Jamaal. The home is in her mother Constance Walcott's name. Walcott bought the house in 2003, but retired because of health problems last year--and Roberts' monthly Social Security benefits as Little Jamaal's adoptive mother isn't enough to cover the mortgage and living expenses for the trio. Roberts is a lung cancer survivor who left her job as a clerk in the DeKalb Sheriff's Department last May. She says Sun Trust foreclosed on the property after they fell behind on mortgage and homeowner's association payments.

  • Atlanta Police have identified a person of interest as they investigate the murder of a North Carolina woman who was visiting Buckhead when she was killed. Detective Kevin Otts says Steven Smith (right) is the only resident of the Gramercy at Buckhead Apartments who hasn't come forward to talk to detectives, and that he has ignored their calls to his cell phone and messages they have left for him. Police believe the motive for the home invasion may have been burglary and that the suspect didn't know ZaQuavia Kingsberry would be there. Money in a computer desk had been stolen.

  • Gwinett Police say a possible domestic dispute, not the weather, is to blame for the crash that killed 39-year-old Ruby Spencer of Lawrenceville Monday night. Cpl. Brian Kelly says 35-year-old Eddie Waters was in the front seat as his wife was driving, and may have been drunk when he grabbed the steering wheel and jerked it, causing Spencer to lose control of the car. Spencer's car hit a utility pole so hard it broke. She died on scene; her husband and daughter were treated for non-serious injuries. Waters is charged with involuntary manslaughter.

  • An Atlanta man gets 15 years in federal prison for mailing an Easter card to a state prison inmate--with kiddie porn tucked inside. Forty-four-year-old Daniel Cooper, who was convicted in May, had just been released from the Telfair State Prison himself after serving time for child molestation. He sent the packet to a former prison pal; guards discovered the pictures when they noticed how thick the card was.

  • The nation's capital has one of the highest HIV infection rates in the country, and Washington officials have launched a citywide effort to promote the use of female condoms. They're handing out half a million of them, along with demonstrations on how to use them, with the hope that making them available can help stop the spread of HIV in the city.

  • Police say they can thank a kid for dropping a dime on her drunk-driving mom. New York state troopers report a 12-year-old girl called 911 to report her mom was intoxicated behind the wheel. Troopers say Jamie Hicks had a blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit and she was charged under a new law making it a felony to drive drunk with minors in the vehicle.

  • The Queen of Soul and the distinguished diplomat got some R-E-S-P-E-C-T Tuesday night! Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, a classically-trained pianist, accompanied Aretha Franklin in a Philadelphia concert to benefit youth and arts awareness. They did "I Say A Little Prayer" and "My Country 'Tis of Thee" together and Rice did a Mozart concerto. Franklin also did some songs from her new album coming out this year.

  • Organizers of the Dove Awards are taking a leap of faith and moving the annual gospel and Christian music show to Atlanta--the first time the Doves have been held anywhere but Nashville. They'll be at the Fox Theatre, April 20.

  • You've heard about the Do Not Call list; well, how about a Do Not Track option when you are surfing the Internet? The head of the Federal Trade Commission is broaching the idea of a button consumers can use when they're web surfing to opt-out of targeted ads.

  • The KISS 104.1 weather forecast: partly sunny, with a 30% chance of showers or thunderstorms and a steamy high of 92.
