It's American radio, and the successful personalities that are borne out of it often reflect its vibrancy, power and depth. Such is Charles Mitchell. A musician at heart and lover of all people; a savvy professional, yet earthly spirit. Charles joined the "KISS" family in the fall of 2006. Charles born in New Jersey, and attending Seton Hall University with a major in Accounting, says, the entertainment industry was always fascinating to him. Having performed in music bands throughout the New York/New Jersey area, radio seemed like a natural fit.
Heavily influenced by great radio personalities like Frankie "Hollywood" Crocker, Hank Spann, Ken "Spider" Webb, Vy Higginson, Vaughn Harper, Fred Buggs, Gary Byrd, and Chuck Leonard, they taught him to always "be true to yourself".
Jack (The Rapper) Gibson, one of radio's most influential personalities and certainly the industry's most prolific trailblazer, dubbed Charles the "Rolls Royce of Afternoon Drive," because of his smooth on-air delivery.
With over 20 years in the broadcast industry, having worked in Miami to New York City, he has done it all from TV to national commercials. He was named one of the most outstanding up and coming Program and Music Directors by B.R.E. magazine among other awards he has received.
In his spare time, Charles enjoys golf, reading, playing basketball (gotta keep in shape), going to the movies, out on the town, meeting and greeting lots of people in this wonderful city of Atlanta.
A true professional, he also is compassionate about his community, giving freely of his time and energy to various organizations. In addition, Charles is quick to respond to today's youth, offering counseling and his own formula to success.
"You've got to believe in yourself," he asserts, "and enjoy every second of your life. It's important to be around positive people; work hard and smart."
From the instigating days as a musician and emcee, on through the education of his radio days and into the competitive world of promotions, Mitchell has always been an achiever. Like radio, he continues to evolve with our ever-changing times. Wherever he is tomorrow, next week or next year, you won't have to look far to find him...Look at the top.
