Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) was an American recording artist, entertainer and businessman. The seventh child of the Jackson family, he debuted on the professional music scene at the age of 11 as a member of The Jackson 5 in 1969, and began a solo career in 1971 while still a member of the group. Referred to as the "King of Pop" in subsequent years, his 1982 Thriller is the world's best-selling record of all time and four other solo studio albums are also among the world's best-selling records: Off the Wall (1979), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991) and HIStory (1995). 
One of the few artists to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, his other achievements include multiple Guinness World Records—including one for "Most Successful Entertainer of All Time"—13 Grammy Awards, 13 number one singles in his solo career—more than any other male artist in the Hot 100 era and the sale of 750 million records worldwide. Jackson's highly publicized personal life, coupled with his successful career, made him a part of popular culture for almost four decades. Jackson died on June 25, 2009, aged 50. The specific cause of death has yet to be determined. Before his death, Jackson had announced a 50 date sell-out This Is It comeback tour, in London, England.

- RememberI remember when the Jackson 5 started. I remember the fan club. I was even a member of the Jackson 5 fan club. I'm 10 months youger than Michael but I grew up with his music. He was more than a star and idol. His music was comfort, peace, happiness, love and much more. He was a beautiful, talented, restless soul in search of peace, comfort and love. - Our Angel Has Gone Back HomeI never met Michael Jackson but watching his career was like riding on a rollercoaster ride. He had his highs and his lows and he always gave us something unexpected. I could not wait to hear his newest song or watch his latest video. I was always looking forward to seeing how he was going to topple his last performance. No matter what he did, he always left a profound mark on the world. My heart breaks for his family. We lost a great musical icon and humanitarian. One of my co-workers asked me why I was so sad over someone that I did not know. I told him that I did not have to know Michael personally. Through his actions that we saw publically, you knew that he was a person with a big heart that loved his family, friends, and his fans. When I first heard about his death from the bus driver on my way home, I immediately thought that this man was someone's son, father, uncle, brother, and friend and they will never be able to talk to him, laugh with him, cry with him, dance with him, or sing with him on this earth again. Michael had a God given unique talent that touched the lives of so many people. He has fulfilled God's purpose for him and now he has been called back home. I have downloaded all my favorite MJ songs off iTunes and I will treasure his music forever.

- Farewell MichaelI met Michael Jackson and his brothers at the Uptown Theater in Philly with Georgie Woods, the Man with the Goods, in 1967-68. We had a great time. Regular tickets were $3.50 and top tickets were $5.50. The show was hours long. RIP
