These are the most common symptoms of uterine fibroids.

Get Fibroid Relief with UFE

Fibroids are benign tumors which can cause symptoms such as excessive bleeding, pain, frequent urination, constipation & bloating. At least 25 percent of women in the U.S.have fibroids. African American women are more likely to develop fibroids.

Research indicates that the leading cause of a Hysterectomy here in the US is due to Fibroids. A surgery that maybe unnecessary for a benign condition. Today, women have fibroid treatment options that often go unmentioned, such as, Uterine Fibroid Embolization or UFE. UFE is a safe and effective way to treat fibroids and provide symptom relief ~ without surgery or long recovery time.

Sisters Share Your Stories Like KISS 1041FM Midday Personality Cynthia Young

I would plan my life around my cycle and most months, I would only have a few days of relief from my fibroids pain before the symptoms started again.”

Hello I’m Cynthia Young Middays at Kiss 104.1. I’m committed to sharing my story with hopes that we will inspire other women to seek information about treatment options and share this information with women everywhere who may not be aware.

Sisters and friends, you don’t have to suffer in silence. Your relief is in the information. Like most black women, I had one of the most common gynecological conditions that affect up nearly 80% of African-American women - uterine fibroids. This condition caused me to have heavy periods and cramps that would make you want to curl up with a heating pad until the pain stopped. I even had a constant craving for ice, not knowing this was due to my extremely low blood levels caused by the fibroids. Like many women I would plan my life around my cycle, and most months I would only have only a few days of relief from my fibroid pain before the symptoms started again. When I was younger, information and options weren’t as available as they are today. Or, at least all of the facts weren’t shared with me. I had a long and painful recovery because of the choice I made, but thank goodness you have different choices available to you.

Now there are other options, and I am committed to sharing this information with other women like you who may feel like they are different…or their body is just changing with age… or simply just suffering with the pain and/or heavy flow. Trust me, you aren’t alone! At least 1 in 2 Black women are faced with this condition and many don’t even know they have it because we aren’t opening up with our friends, our sisters, our mothers and our daughters to share this information the way we should. If it is not you, it may be a woman close to you.

If you are faced with the condition of Uterine Fibroids or even think you may have it because of heavy periods, cramps, a little belly bulge or bloating, I encourage you to get a second opinion and explore your options by talking to Dr. John Lipman about UFE (Uterine Fibroid Embolization).

UFE is an alternative to surgery. This procedure can help you get back to your life in a week. Dr. John Lipman at Emory-Adventist Hospital has done more UFE procedures than anyone else in the country and he is right here in Atlanta.

The procedure is covered by insurance and you can leave with a simple band aid. If I had known about UFE when I made my decision, I may have made a different choice.

You only have one body and one life and it’s vital to make the best decision for your life once you have explored all of your options. Schedule a consultation today to get a second or even a third opinion. Call 770-801-4634. You are worth it.

What others are saying

  • Me too!
I found out that I had Fibroids from a co-worker who had the same issues. Ironically, I was complaining about my symptoms one day and she suggested that I get checked out. I was 36 with no kids and my doctor recommended a hysterectomy. I researched options on my own and found an alternative. Thank you for sharing this option for women. Since then, I have helped other friends who are heavy period sufferers get help.
